State school safety grants

Your state education or homeland security agency

What your own state runs, on its own calendar.

Who applies
Districts, and in several states private and charter schools too.
What it funds
Varies by state. Many fund security technology directly.
Watch out
State deadlines often land months before the federal ones for the same year.

Published figures

None at the level of one site

This program sets the amount a single building sees somewhere downstream of the award. A representative number here would be a guess.

Process

How to apply

The same five steps for every program here. The notice is what decides the order you can actually do them in.

  1. 01

    Confirm who applies

Read the notice. Most of these take an application from a district or a city, not from one school.

  2. 02

    Rate the cameras

Setup rates every camera at its working distance. You see what would be refused before you buy.

  3. 03

    Price the scope

An itemised quote per camera from the published catalog. Refused cameras are excluded, not counted.

  4. 04

    Write the narrative

Describe what the money buys and what it does not. Overclaiming is a risk to the award.

  5. 05

    Collect the paperwork

W-9, insurance certificates, and whatever procurement needs. Ask before the deadline, not on it.

Limits

Where we stop

We do not write your application, and we cannot review it for you.

We cannot tell you whether you are eligible. The program decides that.

No vendor can promise an award, and any vendor who does is telling you something else that is untrue.

Program rules change every fiscal year. Read the notice, not a vendor page.

Name the program and the building. You get a camera-by-camera coverage report and an itemised quote to attach.
